I was very moved watching "Our Hebrews", a short documentary about Pitigliano, in Tuscany, known as Little Jerusalem. I read about Pitigliano while planning our trip to Tuscany many years ago. I made it the first stop of our trip. It is the most stunning place, complete with Jewish history dating back hundreds of years. When you have a minute google Pitigliano, look at the photos, read about the Jewish history. Then watch ''Our Hebrews". The 3rd short part of the documentary is just a few minutes long, with aerial views of Pitigliano, just amazing.

This really struck me. We too went to Pitigliano. It was very out of the way. The history we got was that the retreating Nazis were told that there was a town up the hill. The nazis were marching out of Italy. Having been betrayed, the Jews were all murdered. We met the last remaining Jew. A woman who had been hidden by a neighbor as an infant. The in the shul. No longer active we found Kippot with the name of a young man whose ancestors came from there and whose parents brought him there with a group of people to be Bar Mitzvah. Now the town makes its money by selling Jewish delicacies.
