Written and directed by the creator of THE NEW BLACK, and starring fan-favorite Shuli Rand, The Unorthodox is a historical comedy that tells the story of an orthodox single father whose daughter was expelled from school for ethnic reasons. After deciding to run for election, he almost single-handedly establishes the first ethnic political group in Israel which is today an empire with almost half a million voters.

In 1983, Yaakov Cohen is tired from being pushed around, so he decides to establish a Sephardic-ultra-Orthodox list that will run to the Jerusalem municipality. He gathers two friends, and together they improvise a campaign - no means, no connections, no money, but with much rage, passion and a sense of justice.
